aayirathil-oruvan

So, having seen the movie Aayirathil Oruvan, I will now sit down and write my review on it. The film is definitely fast paced with a lot of typical commercial elements. The 2 heroines do a good job, though Andrea has a very unique role. Coming to the hero, Karthi, his performance is above par. He does reasonable justice to this rather unusual role. My first instinct was that his histrionics have improved when compared to his last movie. The songs are good, though a few songs are redundant for the movie and end up slackening the pace a little bit. Parthiban, a maverick himself, plays an important role (of a king) and does a rather neat job.

Elaborating a little more on the script, Andrea is an archeologist by profession and by chance encounters Karthi and Reema Sen. This chance encounter leads them on a rather unusual trail (watch the move for this suspense!!). The movie then tailspins into a flashback with Parthiban dominating this sequence almost competely. The reason for this sequence is obvious and not just a time-spinner. As you would expect next, the trio find themselves in an unenviable position and how they wriggle themselves out of this ancienct-neo mess forms the climax.

Overall, its a good watch-probably just once for someone like me, maybe folks elsewhere may like it better. The hard work gone into the movie is evident and the output justifies the efforts. My only crib is that, its good not awesome. If I were to rate it, I would probably go for a 3.5/5 for this one.

Aayirathil Oruvan – not bad, not great.
